Happy Thanksgiving End of Autumn living Winter almost here, Read on, my…
…Dear…
I love to combine things. I love to make connections, save time, kill two birds with one stone. So I really like it when things merge together and crystallise into things/ideas/art/events/products/concepts that synthesise many of my interests in one fell swoop…
…Carpet Pages III: Pixels and its related events did this! Thank you to all of you who came to the Zoom events; they were all amazing and the show itself was more successful than I could have ever imagined, being online and global! What inspiring artists, what intriguing works! Thank you to all of you who donated, too, to help keep it on the road. If you’d still like to donate, feel free to contribute towards the next Carpet Pages at info@vaishaliprazmari.com and you can download this year’s show forever at www.carpetpages.com. Thanks are also due to my sponsors Community Mask, which also seemed appropriate for a show inspired by the Covid era. Fitting for our times, and fitting snugly around the face - if you or someone you know is in need of an ergonomic, Italian-designed, Swiss-certified, award-winning, hi-tech reusable face mask then head over to www.communitymask.co.uk. I chose to wear the Camouflage limited edition…
Visit the show…camouflaged like the famous carpet on the gallery floor, hiding in plain sight. The answer to the riddle is, of course, the Ardabil carpet…
…Not hiding in plain sight was the needle in a haystack, a brush in the desert…
…this brush is my 5th brush in the series - happy to launch the Ether brush at www.theperfectbrush.co.uk! It’s a magic brush and piece of art in one. Those who purchase the brush are also buying an artwork, as it forms one of the 1001 works I’m making for my 1001 Nights research which is taking myriad forms…
…and which has its own dedicated space on my webpage now at last (https://www.vaishaliprazmari.co.uk/1001). I’ll post more works here as I finish them; I have many more works in progress, including some miniature paintings…
…and if you want to be immersed in the world of miniature painting, book a taught course or private tuition here at www.vaishaliprazmariteaching.com - for the end of the year we'll dive back into my first love in miniature painting, the wondrous ROCKS, and also deep dive into the History, Theory and Techniques of Traditional Art. Please do contact me first if you’re interested in private tuition as currently I have limited spaces…
…but an unlimited Zoom account (well, up to 500 people) so if you missed the live Zoom events in November, I am hosting another one in December, an offshoot of the Forum at www.miniaturepaintingforum.com and you can sign up for free to get the link… It’s a more informal chat and part of the Monthly Miniature Meetings. Let’s connect and converse…
…and, as in a real life conversation, there would be time for chit chat, small talk, exchanges of pleasantries, the niceties that make non-online life worth living. Offworld, I enjoyed Divali, the Festival of Lights, with candles while reading Goswamy’s The Spirit of Indian Painting (highly recommended). I aim to celebrate all major world festivals somehow and lately I have been dreaming about Christmas. Whether or not you subscribe to any religion, Christmas is just great, especially when you have a family. I love the Advent countdown and already have 7 different Advent calendars lined up for myself and my kids this year. 2 are chocolates, 1 is candles and the rest are either beautiful Nativity scenes that remind me of the smallness and fragility of babies and the brightness of cold starry nights or just warm and homely Christmas scenes. I like opening the boxes and lifting the flaps and peeking inside things, which is also why I’m in love with pop-up and moveable books… not just for my kids, for my PhD research, for general viewing pleasure, to keep my brain active in a (paper) engineering sense. One of my friends bought a nail varnish Advent calendar - then got stopped at Customs at the airport by a particularly mean-spirited border official, who made her open every.single.one. in front of him, since they were all liquids. Bah humbug!
Good-spiritedly yours,
Vaishali Prazmari
