...but I couldn't include all the examples I wanted to on the site. I wanted to try something different this time and we can paint smaller faces to include more, since there are many different ways to paint the rich and beautiful dark skin tones. So here are the selected images:
Dabshalim and Bidpai. He looks regal sitting on his throne.
A Black King pointing at you, old man. Old man: 'Yes, but have you thought about...?'
A Black King pointing at YOU, old man. No, you may not make any suggestions. I'm the King. My way or the highway.
I've got to include these two Black and dark faces. Firstly, as it's from my favourite painting, The Court of Gayumars. Secondly, bottom man is faced frontally - how rare is that?! Thirdly, top man is dark yet has reddish blush, again, rare! These are super tiny faces. I think we can fit them in!
(just for context, where it's from)
A Black builder - in contrast to the King. This is super-zoomed in; I have the original to send to you later.
Dark ashy face. This is one of the common and standard ways they painted dark skin, with a bit of a grey undertone.
And finally...
A surfer dude. I really want to paint the surfer dude! And change this builder into a surfer. Don't you think he looks like he's heading to the beach? "YOU build. I'm quitting this job and I'm off to the beach, suckers."
See, he really is the only one not actively working. Sneakily slacking off! Somehow I like him the most. Ok, I like the ladder guy too. But I really like how Surfer Dude is thinking of walking out of the painting and is off to catch some waves...
If we don't do all the figures, we can do the faces, all small, like this:
Regal Dabshalim with a crown
Black frontal face
And dark blush face
Dark ashy face
Surfer Dude, whole body, just because he is the coolest.
I think in terms of colours and shades, as I've done for the Flowers classes. I think the above 5 are at least a broad spectrum and shows more of a variety of tones and shades and is more representative and interesting. Since they're small, I think we can do them all!
