INTRODUCE YOURSELF

Public·1 member

Hello!

Great to stumble upon this forum! I will be on the upcoming course from the Kings School on the Persian Falnama, and am looking forward to it. I can replicate simple drawings, and have enjoyed a bit of printmaking.

I have not formally trained in art apart from some short courses and I am hoping to gradually build a portfolio to be able to apply for a degree later in life. I enjoy good architecture and love Japanese woodblock, Mughal miniature painting and simple drawing.

Looking forward to meeting a few of you!

Hello Amisha! It's nice to meet you, I am looking forward to teaching the Falnama class so great that you are here. There is a lot of crossover between printmaking and miniatures, they are both flat... this is a great goal you have, to put together a portfolio, I look forward to helping you achieve that :-) and thank you for your introduction!

New to all this

Hello from sunny Sarasota, Florida. I am somewhat new to this..I have taken one classso far. I fell in love with the colors and the use of fantasy. This is my first project. I still need to add the leaves and the lines. I have fallen I. Love with using my new ruling pen.

Karin von May, natural science illustrator

Hello from California's central coast,

I am currently a graduate student at California State University, Monterey Bay's Science Illustration Graduate Certificate Program. My final work focus on pollinators: specifically native bees and lepidoptera of North America. I studied history as an undergraduate and have always had a love for material history. Now, I am in the process of merging my diverse interests if the form of entomological drawn and painted science illustration works on paper and vellum informed by the history of the book. Please follow my work as I am always seeking engagement and informed critique from my artistic peers. I am greatly looking forward to trying my hand at miniature painting and tickling the childhood delight miniatures always have inspired in me. Olga Tokarczuk, Fyodor Dostoevsky, and Orhan Pamuk are the authors of my current favorite fiction and Kahlil Gibran, Jorge Luis Borges, and Hafiz are my delightful…

Welcome Karin! We have members in the US, and also in north and south California (I’m not sure about the middle!). Your work sounds fantastic and vital, bees are so important. Great that you can combine your scientific interests with art, that kind of illustration has a long and venerable history. As does miniature manuscript painting! So great to have you here. Some of us also love Orhan Pamuk, Borges, Hafiz. @Susan Dobrian @Mary Yaeger @Dorothy Thursby @Dori Allard @Alison Guest

(There are other US folk too!) 😊

Hello from France

Hello everyone,

Thank you for accepting me on this forum!

I am Özden, based in Strasbourg, France, and am currently a textile arts teacher. I have specialised in combining embroidery and painting or knotted needle lace and painting on paper. I'm slowly but surely moving onto tezhip and hopefully miniature as well. I'm very interested in doing a PhD at the Prince's school. I look forward to exchanging with you on various miniature related subjects.

Art is healing, absolutely. One of the monthly meetings I hope to get a current PSTA PhD student on, so would be great to hear from them.
