Dear Vaishali,
Many thanks for your feedback on my previous submissions! I have inked the outline of my composition. I am attaching seven images below, which show different stages of my inking. If it is possible, may I request you to review my inking and provide me with some feedback?
Image 1. Inking begins.
Image 2. Inking in progress.
Image 3.1. Inking complete, albeit without margins.
Image 3.2. Inking complete, along with margins.
Image 4. Erasing Pencil and Trace stains after Inking.
Image 5.1. Burnishing after inking.
Image 5.2. Displaying the burnished surface.
I have genuinely enjoyed your lecture and demonstration. Many thanks for being such a patient and perceptive instructor.
With warm regards,
Pranav

Thanks for sharing Pranav! So, in reply:
1. These lines are just for you, so do not worry too much if they are not super uniform - however I would still do my best because although they will be covered, they can be taken as a brush exercise
2. The Simurgh’s head is quite good; the wings are slightly wobbly and on the thick side, which may be because you are getting tired after doing quite a lot of inking!
3.1 Yes you can definitely see your energy levels - the rocks which you did first (top left rocks) were done more slowly and ideally you keep this consistency throughout; actually the tail is quite good as well but could do with thinner lines - since is your first miniature I wouldn’t worry, plus these lines will be covered. Main thing is to go slowly! Like driving a car - if unsure, don’t speed
Yes, I could have used more time to complete inking. I was a bit anxious about lagging behind in the class. I wanted to get to the flat coloring stage before tomorrow. But I now understand why you would like us to go slow and aim for thinner and lighter lines.
3.2 Good margins actually; again this is to do with your implement that you use (so, if your ruling pen rules thick lines, that is what you will get); less skill involved with ruling pens than with brushes. I would say that the ink is a bit too dark; next time best to have a paler, more dilute ink rather than strong black. Could also be lighting
You're right, I actually used a darker ink for the margins. I did not realize that we were required to used a lighter hue for the margins as well. I'll be pay attention to this detail in the future. Thanks for your advice!
@Pranav Prakash once your hand is warmed up and more confident you can actually use a darker ink for the margins, so don't worry - also you can do coloured ones and more lines if you're feeling super confident!
4. Much neater looking - once pencil is erased the lines always appear a bit finer! Main things to say are to go slower, and use paler, dilute ink
5. Well done for a first attempt at inking - and finishing! Great composition as well, which you’ve done naturally
5.2 Excellent burnishing, this is exactly how burnishing should look. Hope you’re excited about doing the colour fill now!
Also - that looks like a nice burnishing stone. You’re very welcome - lovely to have someone so knowledgeable in the class too! See you online later!
Thanks a lot for your feedback! This is very helpful.
