A glow in the dark/neon/fluoro book where we explore different paint effects too. This book includes shop signs for snuff, medicine, carriages, slingshots, ponytails, musical instruments, drums, knives, paint, oil shoes, glass beads, glass mirrors, bellows, brassware, tobacco, pipes, cotton, hemp, knitting yarn, socks, soles, wooden soles, second hand clothing, official rank leather, hats, wigs, horsetail buns, jewellery, costume jewellery, plait strings, betel, pastries, puddings, bamboo shoots, milk tea, steamed buns, flour, wine, shoes. Also pawnshops, optometrists, apothecaries, foundries, ordinary eateries, restaurants.
All these things were important in late imperial China apparently. What people bought and sold is a record of their history. We’ll also play with glow-in-the-dark paints and inks to make sure our shop signs are visible at night. I'll tell you about growing up in Hong Kong. Open 24 hours.
Class includes a bespoke handmade leather envelope-flap cover to paint and free postage to anywhere in the world. Sent separately depending on production schedules. Make your own library of handmade Islamic style books!
