Hot press versus cold press paper

I have a question about using hot press versus cold press paper. It seems to me that you would want cold press paper, because when you are staining and starching the paper, it will absorb more. 640 gsm paper

So I finally bit the bullet and invested in some giant sheets of 640 gsm hot pressed Fabriano paper. Now, I'm wondering how to cut them. Parchment substitutes

Hilarie Cornwell told me about pergamenata, a cellulose-based parchment substitute. I love it...tough like real animal skin parchment, but not greasy. It comes very smooth and I usually rub it with a gum eraser before drawing. It does like to curl up once painted, though. I once finished a piece la

    PURCHASING NATURAL PIGMENTS

I get asked this a lot so easier to put here. Does anyone have a list of natural pigment sellers that they regularly buy from? Eg from Etsy - some people mentioned that they buy pigments from Etsy. It would be good to share if possible! For the UK (but they may ship internationally) and later if you
